WINTER STORM WARNING

Ottawa and Allegan counties and other areas:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND RAPIDS HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM EST TUESDAY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

* LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES THIS AFTERNOON.

* SNOWFALL RATES IN EXCESS OF AN INCH PER HOUR COULD OCCUR IN THE STRONGER BANDS.

* WEST WINDS WILL GUST OVER 25 MPH LEADING TO BLOWING SNOW.

* FALLING TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT.

* NEAR ZERO WIND CHILLS BY TUESDAY MORNING.

* THE MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REMINDS MOTORISTS TO ADJUST SPEEDS BASED ON THE CONDITIONS... AND TO TAKE IT SLOW IN ICE AND SNOW.
