Advisory

Phone scam

Several Miami students have reported that they have received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS Department of Taxation. The caller claims that the student owes taxes and failure to pay will result in a warrant and the police responding to arrest them unless they immediately pay money. The caller ID displayed is an actual number from police agencies, including Oxford Police, Miami University Police, and other area police agencies. This is a SCAM. Do not send money, do not engage the caller. Simply hang up the phone.
