GTPD Media Release: Body Cavity Search Yields Significant Quantity of Heroin Heroin Dealer and Three Buyers Arrested

On 10/30/2014, The Gloucester Township Police Department Operations Response Unit was conducting enhanced criminal patrol operations in the area of Revere Run/Loch Lomond Dr. due to reports of increased criminal activity in this area, specifically the dealing of heroin and oxycdone. Patrol officers were in the area of Wawa 2700 Sicklerville Road, Gloucester Township. Officers observed suspicious activity in the parking lot of Wawa consistent with a drug transaction.

Two vehicles were stopped leaving the area of the Wawa parking lot. The first vehicle, a Mazda occupied by three males was stopped in the area of the Wawa. Officers observed a bag of heroin on the driver’s side floor of the vehicle. A voluntary consent search of the vehicle was conducted. Heroin, clonazepam pills, and hypodermic syringes were located inside the vehicle. Driver, Jonathan Ryan of Washington Township, passengers Charles Yates of Washington Township and Earl Shone of Clementon were arrested for Possession of CDS/Syringes.

The driver of the second vehicle, Anthony Adams of Atco, was stopped in the area of Wilson Avenue, Washington Township. Adams had just met with an occupant of above vehicle. A voluntary consent search was conducted and officers located a hypodermic syringe. The passenger, Tyeisha Jackson of Winslow Township and Adams were arrested for possession of a hypodermic needle and transported to police headquarters.
Officers observed Adams consistently reaching in the rear of his pants while in the patrol unit. A search warrant for a body cavity search was obtained, which was conducted at a local hospital, later revealed that Adams was hiding a significant amount of heroin in his body. Several bundles of heroin were recovered from the search warrant.

The arrest of these individuals is another example of the continued enhanced criminal enforcement campaigns targeting those who illegally distribute narcotics in Gloucester Township. The Gloucester Township Police Department will continue to aggressively attack the sale and abuse of this highly addictive drug in our community. Drug dealers that distribute narcotics in Gloucester Township will continue to be aggressively pursued and arrested.

Charges: Distribution of CDS (2nd degree), Possession of CDS (3rd degree), and Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe (disorderly persons). He was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in default of $100,000.00 full cash bail.
