The Norton Shores Police arrested a subject on 10/26/2014 on multiple felony charges after a low speed pursuit.

Felonious Assault

On October 26, 2014 at 6:38 P.M., officers from the Norton Shores Police Department were dispatched to 2268 Reneer, Norton Shores in reference to a domestic situation. Officers found that a 28 year old Norton Shores male allegedly had threatened his 33 year old girlfriend and his 62 year old mother with a knife and a sledge hammer. The suspect also allegedly tried to set fire to the house. In addition to the damage to the home, the tires of a car parked in the driveway were slashed.

The suspect fled the home prior to the officers arrival, but was later spotted in the area of Lakeshore and McCracken in the City of Muskegon. A low speed (35 mph), eight mile, pursuit ensued as officers attempted to apprehend the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody in front of his home on Reneer after he jumped off the moped and attempted to run back into the home.

The suspect was charged with two counts of Felonious Assault, Attempted Arson of an Occupied Dwelling, Fleeing and Eluding in a Motor Vehicle and Resisting and Opposing a Police Officer.
