Barstow Deputies and Kern County Fire Department Responded to an Assault at a Truck Stop in Kramer Junction
DATE/TIME: October 22, 2014, at approximately 3:00 p.m.
INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 5725 State Highway 58, Kramer Junction
SUSPECT: Kristopher Oliver, 30 years of age, a resident of Boran, CA
VICTIM: Charles Nalley, 60 years of age, a resident of Chowchilla, CA
SUMMARY: On October 22, 2014, at about 3:00 p.m., deputies from the Barstow Sheriff's Station responded to a report of an assault at a truck stop in Kramer Junction. Kern County Fire Department also responded to render medical aid to the victim, Nalley, who suffered a swollen eye and lacerations to his hands.
Upon arrival, deputies determined Nalley arrived at the truck stop and parked in a no parking area. The management told Nalley to move his truck, which Nalley was going to do as soon as he completed his purchase. As Nalley walked to his truck, Oliver, an employee of the truck stop also confronted Nalley. They became involved in an argument, which escalated to a point where Oliver struck Nalley in the head with a 1 inch thick wooden broom handle, causing the handle to splinter and break.
Deputies contacted Oliver and subsequently arrested and booked him at the Barstow Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He is being held in leiu of $50,000.00 bail. Nalley was seen by fire personnel, but refused treatment.
