TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fatal Vehicle vs. Motorcycle Collision

Victim #1: Baugher, Harold, 45 year old male, San Martin Resident
Details: On 10/7/2014 at approximately 3:00 pm, Gilroy Police Officers responded to the 2300th Block of Hecker Pass for a report of a vehicle vs. motorcycle collision. Officers arrived and discovered the motorcycle rider unresponsive and suffering from major trauma. Emergency Medical Personnel arrived to render aid. They were able to stabilize the rider, Harold Baugher, and transported him to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, Mr. Baugher succumbed to his injuries on 10/15/2014.
Members of the Gilroy Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. They worked through the evening hours to gather evidence in an attempt to determine any contributing factors to the collision. Preliminary information revealed that alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in this collision. The driver of the vehicle, 43 year old male Gilroy resident, was not injured as a result of this collision.
This investigation is on-going and will be forwarded to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office for review and determination of any criminal wrong-doing.
