GRAND THEFT ARREST

On Monday, October 20, 2014, Corona Police Officers were dispatched to Kohl’s, 470 Hidden Valley Parkway, regarding a grand theft/vandalism. The investigation revealed that during the weekend, an unknown suspect(s) had cut and stole the copper wiring from the electrical panels that control the solar panels. Several other electrical boxes were cut and the estimated damage and repair costs were $300,000.

Early Tuesday morning, the same investigating officer was patrolling Kohl’s, when he observed a white truck driving out from behind the business. The plates were covered, so a traffic stop was initiated.

Two occupants were contacted and found to be in possession of copper wiring and several burglary tools. The wire found in the truck was the same type as that stolen in the earlier investigation. Follow up at Kohl’s revealed these subjects returned and stole additional wire from the same area.

The driver, identified as Derrick Aescheliman, 45 years from Upland, and passenger, Nathion Gourley, 35 years from Corona, were arrested for grand theft and felony vandalism.
