Sheriff's Homicide Detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man, in the 9300 block of Garvey Avenue, South El Monte.
Detectives learned both the victim-vehicle and the suspect-vehicle were driving eastbound on Garvey Avenue, in Rosemead. While near Muscatel Avenue and Garvey Avenue, the suspect opened fire upon the victim-vehicle, hitting the male driver. The victim subsequently collided into three other vehicles, as he continued eastbound on Garvey Avenue. The victim-vehicle finally came to rest along the 9300 block of Garvey Avenue, in South El Monte.
The suspect-vehicle, described as a dark-colored mid-size vehicle, made a U-turn and fled westbound Garvey Avenue and out of view.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The female passenger inside the victim-vehicle was uninjured.
The investigation is on-going.
