CAMPUS ADVISORY UPDATE 10/20/14
Mr. Lemus was booked at Los Angeles County Jail on Friday, October 17. His arraignment date to be in court is tentatively set for Tuesday, October 21, 2014.
LA County Jail will notify the ECC Police Department prior to Mr. Lemus being released from custody. We will continue to provide updates as we receive any new information.
Please be advised of the following practice Campus Police utilizes regarding any incident when a suspect who has made threats of violence toward the campus community is released from custody:
1. Alert campus community via various means as soon as possible, including providing the individual’s name and photo.
2. Use all available resources to protect the campus.
3. Proactively continue to monitor the suspect’s actions, such as social media.
What students and employees should do if you see the suspect:
1. Call Campus Police immediately. This allows for Campus Police to verify the sighting, and respond accordingly. Notifications may include a Campus Advisory via Nixle, email and other available means. If deemed necessary, Campus Police will advise you to shelter in place, lock down, or provide police escorted evacuation options.
2. Campus Police will keep students and employees informed throughout the process based upon available information.
3. If you see something, say something. By working together we all contribute to the safety of our college campus.
