Attention All Residents:

In the past three weeks the borough has had one attempted burglary and one actual burglary. Both have occurred in the “Manor Section” of the borough. The attempted burglary occurred when unknown actor/actors attempted to shoulder the front door of the residence. This action triggered the alarm and caused the actor/actors to flee. The burglary occurred when unknown actor/actors cut the screen to a rear window and were able to pry open said window and gain access to the residence. The Haworth Police are actively investigating these crimes.

I would like to take this opportunity to advise all residents that the police department has increased patrols throughout the town and to remind our residents of the following:

• Proper lighting is important at all times. Please make sure that interior light timers are reset to accommodate the changing light conditions brought on by the change of seasons.
• Always remember to lock and secure your residence and vehicles. This should be done regardless of the length of time you plan on being away from your home.
• If you have an alarm system, use it. The Haworth Police Department recommends the installation and use of alarm systems for all residences.
• It is important to clear the area in front of windows and doors that are hidden from view by trees and shrubs.
• Always look out for your neighbor’s well-being. The sense of community that is displayed throughout the town is what helps us keep Haworth one of the safest communities in Bergen County.
• Please do not hesitate to call the Police. Report any suspicious persons, vehicles or incidents.

I would like to assure all residents that we are doing everything in our power to continue to make Haworth a safe and crime free town.
