FAMILY DISPUTE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
Modesto, CA – Detectives are currently investigating a family disturbance that led to an officer involved shooting.
Late last night, at about 11:48 PM, Modesto Police received a call from a frantic female pleading for help at her home in the 500 block of Milo Rd. The 9-1-1 call was abruptly disconnected and subsequent call back attempts were unsuccessful.
When officers arrived they could hear a woman screaming for help inside the home. Details of the events leading up to the officer involved shooting are under investigation; however the preliminary investigation has revealed that an uncooperative and agitated male suspect was contacted at the home. He failed to comply with the officers commands and an officer involved shooting occurred during the confrontation. The officer fired one round striking the man.
The suspect, a 35-year-old Modesto resident, was transported to the hospital via ambulance and is currently in stable condition. He faces criminal charges stemming from the incident, though further details will not be available until investigators complete their initial investigation.
Modesto Police detectives, along with personnel from the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, are investigating the incident. The officer was not injured during the incident and has been placed on paid administrative leave as the investigation progresses. Both are standard procedure in officer involved shooting incidents.
