Press Release - Child Struck By Vehicle

Subject: Critical Injury Accident Investigation
Location: 1200 blk Washington Ave/St. Hwy. 20
Injured: 8 year old male Racine, WI


On Thursday October 9, 2014 at about 3:30 p.m. Racine Police Officers were dispatched to a child struck by a vehicle in the 1200 blk of Washington Ave. Responding officers located a critically injured 8 year old male in the road way. Rescue transported the child to St. Mary’s Emergency Room and he was subsequently flown via Flight For Life to Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the child was attempting to cross Washington Ave. westbound. He was struck by an eastbound SUV. The child was thrown into the westbound traffic lane. The accident remains under investigation.

Wisconsin State Patrol responded to assist with accident reconstruction. Due to the ongoing investigation no further details will be released at this time.
