LASD Sheriff's Deputies visit Yerba Buena Elementary School to Educate Students
On September 30, 2014, deputies form the Malibu/Lost Hills Station, along with K9 Deputies Loza and Castellanos, went to Yerba Buena Elementary School in Agoura Hills to talk to Ms. Santini’s kindergarten class. The purpose of this visit was to teach and remind kids about stranger danger, when and when not to dial 911, and to go over bicycle, helmet, and seatbelt safety. The event at Yerba Buena was a great success, allowing the children to explore the patrol vehicles and even get a hands on experience with a Sheriff motorcycle. K9 dogs Tula and Narci were favorites with the kids, as they got to play and interact with both dogs.
Possibly even more important than the demonstrations was to make a connection with the kids and show them that the police are their friends. The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station believes that prevention is key, and that if we can establish a relationship with our youth early on, we can help deter poor behavior and decision making in the future.
