$100,000 Bond Set for Suspected Bank Robber

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces the arrest of a suspected bank robber.

Asad Abdul As-Salam (DOB: 9-22-1961) also known as Gregory Tyrone Moore from Tampa Bay, Florida is charged with Entering into a Bank with Intent to Steal.

As-Salam is accused of stealing money from the Community Bank at 4103 West Beltline Boulevard on July 29, 2014.

CPD Investigators identified As-Salam over the summer and entered his arrest warrant information in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. Soon after, police in Tampa, Florida arrested him on unrelated charges.

CPD Investigators extradited As-Salam from Tampa yesterday. A Columbia judge set his $100,000 surety bond this morning.

As-Salam is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
