LOCATION: West bound 210 Freeway, east of Day Creek, Rancho Cucamonga

VICTIM: Ricardo Chavez, age 39 a resident of Hesperia

SUMMARY: UPDATE - Monday, October 6, 2014 3:00 p.m.

The victim has been identified as Ricardo Chavez, age 40 a resident of Hesperia. Mr. Chavez's vehicle is described as a blue 1985 Nissan 4 x 4. Detectives are asking for the public's assistance in determining who is responsible for the death of Mr. Chavez. On Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 7:52 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the report of an injured person on the north side of the westbound 210 freeway, just east of the Day Creek exit. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he died from his injuries. The victim has not been identified at this time.

The Sheriff’s Homicide Detail was requested and responded to the location due to suspicious circumstances. The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available for release.
