Wayne County Sheriff Travis Hutchinson announced that deputies continue to gather evidence in the case involving the stabbing of a 93 year old Chester Twp woman.
The suspect a 24 year old Ashland man was arrested in Ashland County Saturday evening on an unrelated matter. The man is currently being held for questioning in the Ashland County jail. Sheriff Hutchinson states that his deputies are working with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Ashland County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Highway Patrol to draw this case to a conclusion.
“This is a serious matter and we will leave no stone unturned as we continue this investigation. Crimes of violence are always troubling but are more so when the victim is an elderly woman.” Said Sheriff Hutchinson.
The victim in this case remains hospitalized with serious injuries. It is our policy to withhold suspect information until the suspect is formally charged. Charges in this case could come as early as Monday afternoon.
