BUSTED - 2nd shift arrests burglars and recovers stolen property!

Great work by 2nd Shift Patrol and the COP Unit last night. Officers responded to a burglary complaint in the 2300 blk of Thor Ave at about 7:30 p.m. Numerous items of electronics, alcoholic beverages and swords were stolen. At about 8:30 p.m. a victim in the robbery located possible suspects in the 900 blk of Grove with some of the stolen items. Prior to officers arriving one of the males fled on foot with stolen items. Officers arrived and detained two 16 year old juvenile suspects, recovered much of the stolen property, located the 3rd suspect who fled, 17 year old Robert Ward. A short time later they recovered more of the stolen property from a roof top in the 3300blk of Washington Ave with the assistance of the Racine Fire Department ladder truck. Most of the stolen property was recovered and returned to the owners. Ward was arrested for burglary and one of the juveniles was also apprehended for the burglary.

Burglary reduction continues to be a top priority for the Racine Police Department. Year to date we are seeing a 19% reduction in the number of burglaries over this time last year. We look forward to continuing to work with our community on this intrusive crime.
