Volunteers in Police Service
The Santa Clara Police Department is seeking dedicated and resourceful volunteers with an interest in law enforcement and a variety of talents and skills. Volunteers perform a number of support tasks to police officers and civilian personnel, which allows them to concentrate on their primary duties.

Volunteers may serve in several capacities (e.g. administrative support, fingerprint the public, role playing at officer trainings, inventory and stock forms and supplies, assist with alarm permits, etc.) and the requirements for each vary.
All volunteer applicants must complete the following to be considered:
• City’s volunteer application (http://santaclaraca.gov/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=12061)
• Sign a release (http://santaclaraca.gov/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=12060) allowing the Santa Clara Police Department to conduct a background check;
• Provide a copy of a current Driver's License;
• Supply proof of automobile insurance;
• Share a copy of any Police Report(s) in which you were a suspect or arrested, whether you were convicted or not. If you have not been arrested, please provide a signed statement to that effect;
• Five (5) references (e.g. family member, professor, colleague, supervisor, room-mate, friend, etc.) including name, address, telephone number, email address and how you know the individual; and,
• A copy of any certificates, awards or recognitions you would like considered with your application.
Qualified individuals will be invited to take part in an interview(s) before being considered for an assignment.
