Police Explorers

Applications are Being Accepted Now to be Considered for the Police Explorers Program

Police Explorers are high school students, ages 14-20, interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Explorers assist the Santa Clara Police Department by volunteering at City of Santa Clara special events, Police Activities League programs and in various divisions throughout the Police Departments. Explorers receive monthly training in police related topics.

Explorers experience a number of benefits from participating in the program, including:
* Explore the possibilities of a law enforcement career;
* Participate in training and learn what it takes to become a police officer;
* See the action up close, by working alongside patrol officers;
* Compete and train with Explorers from other Departments;
* Serve the Santa Clara community at various public events;
* Role play during hands-on exercises; and,
* Earn community service hours.

Special Requirements or Restrictions
* Enrollment in High School;
* Maintain a 2.0 grade point average;
* Attend monthly meetings; and
* Participate in community events.

NOTE: Applicants with a felony conviction, a misdemeanor conviction within the last year, or who are currently on probation or parole will not be accepted.

Application procedures:
* Complete a volunteer application;

* The most qualified candidates will proceed through a comprehensive background check and participate in an interview.
