Tip Leads to Automobile Theft Arrest of Wanted Fugitive

Temple Station deputies assigned to the Rosemead Special Assignment Team were investigating a tip from "Crimestoppers" regarding a stolen vehicle and identity theft taking place at the “Royale Inn,” 2618 San Gabriel Bl., Rosemead, CA. Deputies located and confirmed a stolen vehicle was parked at the location. Witnesses identified Suspect Sinon, who was a tenant of the motel, as a suspect of the stolen vehicle. Deputies conducted research and confirmed Suspect Sinon was also a wanted fugitive out of Orange County with a No Bail warrant. A team of deputies attempted to contact Suspect Sinon at his motel room. Suspect Sinon was seen in the room but refused to exit the room, creating a stand-off. A member of the Special Assignment Team, assisted by Station Detectives, secured an Arrest Warrant for the fugitive and a Search Warrant for the room regarding the stolen vehicle investigation. Members of the Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau Canine Detail responded and assisted station personnel with the service of the warrant. The suspect failed to respond to numerous verbal orders to exit the room. Diversionary devices were deployed and Suspect Sinon immediately surrendered. He was taken into custody without incident.

Evidence linking Suspect Sinon to the automobile theft was located in the room. Suspect Sinon was charged with Auto Theft and additionally charged with the “No Bail” Warrant from Orange County.

The Sheriff’s Department is always seeking help from the public in its crime fighting efforts. This incident serves as an example of a citizen’s tip leading to the apprehension of a wanted felon.
