Lytle Creek - Hiker falls 20 feet in Bonita Falls and is rescued by Sheriff's Aviation Crew

VICTIM: Katie Daigle, age 21 of Yucaipa
SUMMARY:
On Monday, September 8, 2014 at approximately 3:17 p.m. the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Aviation along with San Bernardino County Fire were dispatched to the Bonita Falls area of Lytle Creek for a female that had fallen 20 feet near the falls. Bonita Falls is located in a steep canyon at a elevation of 3200 feet. The aviation crew with a county fire paramedic onboard responded with a hoist equipped helicopter. The aviation crew was able to locate the female in the canyon within one minute of arriving on scene. The county fire paramedic was hoisted 90 feet down to the female who was in very steep mountain terrain in a canyon next to the falls. The female had minor injuries and was placed into a rescue harness and hoisted out of the canyon. The injured hiker, Katie Daigle, was taken to awaiting fire and AMR personnel. She was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of her injuries.
