Oxford Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred at approximately 7:10 pm this date in the 400 block of Market Street, in the vicinity of Myrtle Alley. A black male Suspect, operating a white Honda Coupe exited the Vehicle which he parked on Myrtle Alley and approached several young children playing in the area. The Suspect, who was observed to be holding a knife, grabbed a two year old female and attempted to grab a five year old male. The Suspect was confronted by an adult and after a brief altercation, fled the scene toward Market Street. Neither child was injured. At this time, it has not been determined if this incident was confrontational in nature or an attempted child luring. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 610.998.0032 or 610.268.3171. Police are advising parents and children to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity.
Suspect is described as a Black Male in his twenties, tall with slender build. Suspect has Tattoos on both Arms and ear piercings. Suspect was last seen wearing black trousers, green shirt, white hat and black gloves.
