INCIDENT: Dangerous items left on a playground
LOCATION: Oro Grande Park, 3rd Street and Meyer in Oro Grande
SUSPECT(S): Unknown
SUMMARY:
The Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station is reaching out to the community to assist us in identifying the suspect or suspects who placed razor blades and other dangerous objects in a community park in Oro Grande.
On August 26, 2014, park maintenance employees contacted the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station when they found double edged razor blades, bent forks and other sharp items intentionally placed in the playground sand and on the equipment. Many of the blades were wedged into the playground equipment with intent to conceal the dangerous items so they would injure the children. There are no suspect leads and there have been no known threats made towards the park or the children who play there.
“We need to protect our children and we need anyone who has information regarding this serious crime to come forward” stated Sergeant Jim Evans. “We are thankful to park employees for doing a thorough inspection of their facilities and locating these dangerous items before a child was injured”
This is an isolated incident. However, when taking your children to any park to play take the time to examine all equipment and surrounding areas for safety.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact Deputy Brandon Kirkendall at (760) 552-6800. Callers wishing to remain anonymous are urged to call the We-tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or you may leave information on the We-Tip Hotline at www.wetip.com.
