On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at approximately 3:20 PM, the Beverly Hills Police Department received a 911 call from a witness who was chasing a male suspect who was seen running down the street with a purse in his hand. It was later determined that the suspect just committed a residential burglary in the 800 Block of N. Roxbury. According to the victim, she was in the residence and interrupted the crime in progress. The suspect then kicked the victim in the chest and fled the residence. While exiting the residence he grabbed her purse. The purse was dropped by the suspect and returned to the victim.

BHPD units arrived on scene within one minute and observed a male suspect matching the description running away from the location. A perimeter was quickly set-up in the 700 Block of N. Linden Ave. Approximately an hour later, BHPD units with the assistance of a BHPD K-9 located the suspect hiding in a backyard. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the local hospital with minor injuries. The search continued for the second suspect who was never located.

The victim of the initial crime in the 800 Block of N. Roxbury positively identified the suspect as the person that was in the residence who had committed the crime. BHPD Detectives are still on scene processing the crime scene and collecting evidence.

BHPD was assisted by the Los Angeles Police Department Air Unit, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and K-9 assets from Culver City and Santa Monica Police.
