**HMPD arrests two men for Larceny. See nixle.com for details.**

On Friday, August 22, 2014 at approximately 9:45pm, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to the 5800 block of Hunting Ridge Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle and subject in the area. Upon arrival, Officers found that the gate securing the Duke Energy power station had been broken open allowing access to a dirt road going into the woods towards Walmart. While investigating the broken gate, Officers saw a vehicle in the woods located between Walmart and Hunting Ridge Road. Officers approached the vehicle and made contact with the female driver of the vehicle. As the Officers spoke with the driver, the front seat passenger jumped on top of the driver, put the vehicle in reverse and drove backwards away from the Officers for almost a quarter of a mile. The vehicle came to a stop near State Street at the rear of Walmart and the occupants jumped from the car and took off running. Once Officers reached the location of the vehicle, they searched it for additional suspects and during that search found that the vehicle contained a large amount of power tools. While at the vehicle, a Walmart representative approached and told the Officers that they had just been the victims of a larceny and that the suspects stole tools from the store. The Walmart representative identified the tools in the vehicle as belonging to Walmart. The description of the suspects given by the Walmart representative also matched that of the individuals that ran from the Officers.

While the Officers were processing the suspect vehicle, two subjects were located by other Officers and detained on Camden Road near Dorian Drive. After ascertaining the identity of the two individuals on Camden Road it was found that personal information located in the suspect vehicle belonged to one of the subjects being detained on Camden Road. At that time, the subjects were placed under arrest and transported back to the scene of the crime. The female driver was not located and her identity is unknown.

Officers charged Glenn Richard Tedder II, 26, of the 5100 block of Ponderosa Drive in Fayetteville, and Tye Shaw Smith, 26, of the 300 block of Hollywood Drive in Lumberton, with the following offenses:

1 count Larceny
1 count Possession of Stolen Goods
1 count Resist Delay and Obstruct a Police Officer
1 count First Degree Trespassing

Both subjects are currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $4000.00 bond for their charges.
