Following a Collaborative Effort Deputies Arrest a Suspect in Highland for Carjacking

LOCATION: Highland Ave and Victoria Ave City of Highland
SUSPECT(S): ZAVALA, Victor Age: 26 Fontana,
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at approximately 3:12 p.m., deputies from the Central Station located a vehicle that was reported as a stolen-carjacked vehicle on August 10, 2014 from the Fontana area. Deputies observed Victor Zavala driving the vehicle. Zavala is currently on probation for drug offenses. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted and Zavala was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies from the Central Station coordinated with detectives from the Fontana Station during the investigation. Zavala was identified as the suspect that took the vehicle by force from the victim. The vehicle was returned to the victim at the conclusion of the investigation.
Zavala was arrested for the carjacking and possession of a stolen car. He was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
