Victim: AUSTIN LUECK 3 years old Racine, WI
Racine Police were contacted by hospital personnel and advised that 3 year old AUSTIN LUECK passed away from his injuries shortly after 10:30 p.m. last night. The cause of his death is accidental drowning. Please note that the first patrol officer on scene continued lifesaving efforts which had been initiated immediately by a neighbor and family member. The Racine Police Department expresses our sincere condolences to the LUECK family during this incredibly difficult time.

On Sunday August 10th, 2014 at about 2:45 p.m. Racine Police responded with Rescue to a home in the 2000blk of Shoop Street reference a possible drowning. Officers were advised that a 3 year old boy had been pulled from a pool at the home. The child did not have a pulse and was not breathing. The first patrol officer on scene began administering CPR. Rescue arrived and continued lifesaving efforts.
The child was transported to St. Mary’s Emergency Room and later flown to Children’s Hospital via Flight For Life in critical condition.
Racine Police detectives responded to the scene. This incident is believed to be a tragic accident. The child likely fell into the pool after climbing an exterior support strap. The child remains at Children’s Hospital in critical condition at this time.
