Cold Case Murder - Karen Taylor

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit wants your help in solving the murder of Karen Taylor.

On October 1, 1985, Karen Taylor's body was found in her home on Elm Street in Imperial Beach. Her car, wallet and credit cards were missing.

Later that day, the man suspected of murdering Taylor (seen in a sketch attached to this bulletin) had her car towed in Bakersfield, California. He then tried to have the car repaired at a service station using Taylor's stolen credit card. The suspect listed a Richgrove, California zip code on the repair order.

The suspect told service station employees he was from Fresno and had worked for big oil companies in Michigan, New York and Alaska. He also told them he worked for a company near Fresno Airport, possibly an oil refinery.

The suspect did not want to wait for the car to be repaired and was given a ride to a Greyhound bus station by a service station employee. The suspect was carrying two military style duffle bags.
