Career Burglar Taken into Custody

On August 5th, 2014, the search for career burglar David Pietrzak was brought to an end with the assistance of the AB109 Task Force and the Santa Clara County Special Enforcement Team. Suspect David Pietrzak, 50, out of San Jose, was taken into custody in the city of Walnut Creek without incident. Suspect David Pietrzak was wanted out of Morgan Hill and San Jose for multiple burglaries throughout the county. Police received a tip from a neighbor who witnessed Pietrzak leaving a victim’s house with a bag full of loot. The vigilant neighbor provided Morgan Hill Police with a license plate and vehicle description which eventually led police to the suspect’s location in Walnut Creek. Pietrzak was on PRCS probation and on the run for a year committing burglaries throughout the county. Recently, Pietrzak was seen on several home video surveillance cameras committing burglaries. Police received their break in the case when a good Samaritan recognized the suspect was out of place and called the police. Police believe Pietrzak is connected with over 20 residential burglaries in the county.

Suspect David Pietrzak was in possession of multiple stolen items from Morgan Hill and San Jose at the time of his arrest. He was later booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for violation of probation, possession of stolen property and burglary.

This is a great example of Morgan Hill Police Department’s close knit community working in partnership with their police department to keep the community safe and hold offenders accountable. Morgan Hill will be recognizing the neighbor for their assistance in helping police bring this serial burglar to justice.

The arrest of Pietrazk is in addition to the recent arrest of attempted homicide suspect Robert Johnson out of Oakland on Monday and residential burglary suspect Loren Green-Silveira out of Morgan Hill on Tuesday afternoon. Community involvement played a role in the success of each of these arrests.
Chief Swing expressed, “I am especially proud of the work of our team and how their diligent efforts led to the arrest of three dangerous criminals. Morgan Hill is fortunate to have a community culture that takes an active role in public safety by reporting crimes and willingly serving as witnesses.”

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to call Detective Sara Alanis of the Morgan Hill Police Department, 408-779-2101 or the anonymous tip line at 408-947-STOP (7867).
