Armed Robbery by Use of a Dangerous Weapon

On Wednesday August 6th, 2014, TOMMY M CANADY was arrested for the July 29th armed robbery and homicide of SEMAR MCCLAIN. CANADY is being held at the Racine County Jail and will be seen in adult court.

These arrests would not have been possible without the intense investigative effort put forth by Racine Police detectives as well as the outstanding support and assistance we have received from the community.

The investigation is continuing. If you have any information about this crime you are urged to contact the Racine Police Department or Crimestoppers. No further details will be released today. Additional details are expected to be released on Thursday August 7th.

The victim in this incident has been identified as 19 year old SEMAR MCCLAIN. MCCLAIN suffered a fatal gunshot wound. MCCLAIN has ties to our community. This is an active and ongoing criminal investigation. The Racine Police Department does not anticipate the release of additional details related to this crime.

On July 29th, 2014 at about 7:00 p.m. Racine Police and Rescue responded to the 1300 blk of Blake Avenue reference a man down. Responding officers and Rescue personnel discovered a 19 year old Racine man deceased. Racine Police officers and investigators are on scene at this time. This is an active and ongoing investigation. No further information will be released.
