Advisory

Wanted suspect, Anthony Grant, Jr. arrested.

BLUFFTON, SC (August 6, 2014/10:00 AM) – The third suspect wanted in connection with the alleged gang-related assault in Bluffton has been arrested.

Seventeen-year-old Anthony Grant, Jr. was arrested yesterday afternoon after being located in Hardeeville by Jasper County authorities. Grant was wanted on one count of Assault and Battery by Mob 2nd degree for the attack that left 22-year-old Stefan Harris in a coma.

Grant’s co-defendants, 20-year-old Bryce Mincey and 21-year-old Christopher Mincey were previously arrested on the same charge last month. The three men are accused of assaulting Harris as part of an alleged “disciplinary action” for failure to participate in a previous gang-related fight. Harris and the three suspects are reportedly associated with the Piru “G-Shine” gang, which claims affiliation with the Bloods gang.

According to witnesses, Grant and the Mincey brothers launched the assault on Harris in the pool area of the Edgefield subdivision just after midnight on June 30th. Harris reportedly knew the assault was coming, and did not fight back as the three suspects punched and kicked him during the 31-second attack. Following the fight, beer and water were poured on Harris in an attempt to convince responding emergency personnel that Harris was merely intoxicated and had injured himself by falling down.

Harris was initially transported to Coastal Carolina Hospital, where it was discovered that he had sustained severe head trauma. He was then flown to MUSC where he remained comatose and in critical condition.

Harris has since been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries. The investigation into the alleged gang organization continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Sgt. D. Seifert at 843-255-3414 or Crimestoppers.
