PRESS RELEASE: Warsaw Mother and Daughter Charged in Hydrocodone Dealing and Theft.

On Sunday, August 3, 2014, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Warsaw Police responded to CVS Pharmacy at 100 N. Detroit Street for theft of drugs by an employee. Warsaw Police met with CVS loss prevention who provided information that an employee was stealing Hydrocodone pills. The resulting police and CVS investigation found that 21 year old pharmacy assistant, Laura Hughes, of Warsaw, had stolen between 8,000 to 9,000 Hydrocodone 10mg pills over the last 18 months. Hughes admits to consuming about half of the Hydrocodone pills and selling the other half for $5.00 each. When Hughes was taken into custody, she had 189 pills on her and had already consumed six (6) pills during her shift. Hughes stated that she needed the pills to medicate herself and also for extra income to pay bills. The investigation also found that Hughes was providing pills to her mother, 44 year old, Jeannine Hart, of Warsaw, who sold the pills and provided the cash back to her daughter.
Laura Hughes was taken into custody and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a level two (2) felony charge of; dealing in a schedule I, II, III controlled substance; and with level six (6) felony theft. Jeannine Hart was booked in on; level 2 felony charge of dealing in a schedule I, II, III controlled substance. Both are being held on $17,000 surety bonds.
The investigation is ongoing. Warsaw Police were assisted in their investigation by CVS Loss Prevention, and the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
