BLUFFTON, SC (July 31, 2014/10:30 AM) – The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a structure fire that damaged two Bluffton area businesses last night.
At approximately 9:30 pm, deputies and members of Bluffton Fire Department responded to a report of smoke seen coming from the building at 2 Anolyn Ct. Upon arrival, firefighters located and battled an active fire found burning inside Clover Glass.
The fire was successfully contained and extinguished; however, extensive smoke and water damage was sustained both to the Clover Glass facilities as well as to the adjoining business, Affordable Auto Repair.
The fire is believed to have originated in a closet inside Clover Glass, but the cause of the fire remains undetermined. The owner of the business advised that all doors to the building were secured when he left for the day, but firefighters found both overhead bay doors to the business were open when they initially arrived.
The value of damages is pending assessment at this time, and the fire is being investigated as suspicious in nature. Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Sgt. B. Cooler at 843-255-3423 or Crimestoppers.
