2 suspects arrested in Edgefiled assault investigation. 3rd suspect, Anthony Grant, remains at large. Call Crimestoppers with info.

BLUFFTON, SC (July 23, 2014/10:00 AM) – Two men have been arrested and a third man is wanted in connection with an alleged gang-related assault that left a 22-year-old Bluffton man in a coma.

Twenty-one-year old Christopher Mincey was arrested this morning, and his brother, 20-year-old Bryce Mincey, was arrested yesterday, each on one count of Assault and Battery by Mob 2nd degree. A third suspect, 17-year-old Anthony Grant remains at large, wanted on the same charge.

These charges stem from an incident that occurred in Bluffton’s Edgefield community last month. Just after midnight on June 30th, Sheriff’s deputies and Bluffton police officers responded to an anonymous report of a fight occurring  near the pool area of Edgefield. Upon arrival, contact was made with 22-year-old Stefan Harris, who appeared disheveled and disoriented and smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage.

Subjects at the scene advised that Harris was intoxicated and had fallen down. Harris was initially transported to Coastal Carolina Hospital, where it was discovered that he had sustained severe head trauma. He was then flown to MUSC where he remained comatose and in critical condition.

During the course of the ensuing investigation, it was learned that Harris had been, in fact, been assaulted by three suspects, allegedly as a “disciplinary action” for his failure to participate in a previous gang-related fight. According to witnesses, the involved parties are members of the Piru “G-Shine” Bloods gang. During the attack, Harris did not defend himself as he was punched and kicked repeatedly about the head and body. Afterwards, beer and water were poured all over him to give the appearance to responding officers that he was drunk.

Harris has since been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries. The investigation remains active at this time. Anyone with information regarding this incident and/or the whereabouts of Anthony Grant is encouraged to contact Investigator Sgt. D. Seifert at 843-255-3414 or Crimestoppers. Grant is a black male, approximately 5’09”, 170 lbs. His last known address is 4 Jade Stone Ct in Bluffton. He is also known to frequent the Hardeeville area and Oyster Shell Ln on Hilton Head.
