Advisory

ROPD will begin an educational campaign to remind and reinforce these laws and the priority they have for everyone’s safety.

Residents! Please remember that the speed limit on a residential street is 30 MPH and the speed limit in an alleyway is 15 MPH as mandated by state law. Please watch for children at play on or near residential streets and alleyways.
In the coming weeks your Red Oak Police Department will begin an educational campaign to remind and reinforce these laws and the priority they have for everyone’s safety.
If you see violations please report it. Provide the date and times when the activity is occurring, the street or alleyway and the description of the vehicle and the occupants. Providing distinguishing features of the vehicle or a license plate will aid in identification of potential violators.
There are many solutions and some of them such as speed bumps and signage can require approval from governing bodies or require state mandated speed surveys to reduce speeds.
The most common and effective approach to address this concern is through education, deterrence and enforcement. We want to keep our neighborhoods safe and secure.
Please SLOW DOWN and watch for CHILDREN at play. If you see something, please say something. We all can all work together to address residential speeding.
