UPDATE:Yucaipa Critical Missing Person John Preciado was the victim of a fatal hit and run traffic collision in the city of San Bernardino 
UPDATE: On July 18, 2014, at approximately 8:50 PM, 85 year-old Mentone resident John Preciado was crossing the street in the area of W. Rialto Avenue and G Street in San Bernardino when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop. Mr. Preciado was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead on 07/19/2014 at 12:53 AM. The San Bernardino Police Department is investigating this traffic collision. Anyone with information on this collision or the hit and run vehicle is encouraged to contact the San Bernardino Police Department.

On Friday, July 18, 2014 at approximately 8:00 a.m., deputies responded to an assisted care facility located at 1376 Jasper Avenue in Mentone following the report of a missing person. Mr. John Preciado was last seen at his residence on Friday, July 18, 2014, at 0001 hours. Mr. Preciado was last wearing a brown suit jacket, black dress pants and black dress shoes. He left the location on foot and is suspected of traveling west on Lugonia past Wabash Avenue toward the city of Redlands.
Preciado is a diabetic and diagnosed with schizophrenia. He is described as non-violent and last took his medications before going to bed. Mr. Preciado has left his residence several times in the past and is able to tell people his name and where he lives.
