Join Berkeley Police for National Night Out, Registration is Open
National Night Out is just 22 days away. Please remember to register your event, if you plan on participating. We look forward to seeing you August 5th.
The City of Berkeley welcomes all Neighborhood Watch Groups, local businesses, faith-based organization, and community groups to organize for a night of community. On Tuesday August 5th, together with members of the Berkeley Police and Fire Departments and City of Berkeley Staff, help celebrate community, safety, disaster preparedness, and the fight against crime on the 31st anniversary of National Night Out.
National Night Out, a community building campaign, is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. National Night Out now involves over 37 million people and over 16,000 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.
All registration forms should be in by Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Community members can download the registration form here or from the Berkeley Police Department website. Groups must submit a block party permit with the City of Berkeley for street closures for this event. More information regarding the necessary permits required for this event can be found on the City of Berkeley’s website.
Additionally, this year, neighborhood groups participating in National Night Out can count that participation as one of the two required meetings to qualify for a free dumpster. See www.cityofberkeley.info/dumpster for more information.
