Notable Cases

On Wednesday, 07-02-14 at 7:02 p.m., Officer Korey Sprader and Sergeant Alex Rohleder conducted a traffic stop at Geneva Avenue and Schwerin Street. The subject in the vehicle was fidgeting around as the officers approached the vehicle. When the officers asked the subject to exit the vehicle and stand on the sidewalk, the subject had a hard time standing still. When asked if he had used any drugs, the subject at first said no, but then admitted to smoking methamphetamine earlier that day. The subject had a large amount of cash in his possession and said he did not have any drugs in the vehicle. Officers found a suitable amount of methamphetamine in a hidden compartment of the dashboard. The 43-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for being in possession of narcotics for the purpose of sale and for transporting narcotics for the purpose of sale.

On Friday, 07-04-14 at 12:58 p.m., officers responded to the unit block of Camelot Court on a report of a residence that was fully engulfed in flames. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire, and there were no injuries.

On Sunday, 07-06-14 at 2:30 p.m., Officer Nick Ottoboni stopped a vehicle on South Mayfair Avenue and Poncetta Drive. The driver, a 29-year old San Francisco resident had a loaded handgun inside a hidden compartment in his vehicle. Officer Lucas Taylor’s K-9 partner “Odin” assisted in sniffing the vehicle for narcotics. The subject was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine, pills and marijuana. A second firearm was in the trunk of the vehicle.

On Sunday, 07-06-14 at 7:39 p.m., Officer Steven Woelkers and Officer Jeffrey Morgan were on patrol in the area of the 100 block of Belhaven Avenue when they saw a male subject who looked over his shoulder in their direction and then duck behind a vehicle. The officers pulled up closer to the subject and saw the subject throw two objects onto the lawn. Officer Woelkers picked up the items—a sunglass case and an Acura key. The sunglass case contained a bindle containing crystal methamphetamine as well as glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine. The key that was found belonged to a vehicle stolen from San Francisco, and the vehicle was parked around the corner. The 29-year old transient subject was subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance, auto theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
