Homicide Detectives investigate a fatal shooting following a verbal dispute in Crestline.

LOCATION: 23900 block of Wildwood Lane, Crestline
VICTIM: Michael Paul Clark, 38, Crestline
SUSPECT: Steve Baumgartner, 53, Crestline
SUMMARY:
On Monday, June 30, 2014, at 5:14 p.m., deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station responded to the 23900 block of Wildwood Lane, in response to a call stating someone had been shot. Deputies arrived and found Michael Clark with a gunshot wound. Clark was transported to St. Bernadine Medical Center, in the city of San Bernardino, where he was pronounced deceased.
Deputies quickly determined Steve Baumgartner was responsible for the shooting and detained him. The Sheriff’s Homicide Detail was requested to conduct the investigation. Investigators learned the shooting stemmed from a verbal dispute between neighbors. Baumgartner was later arrested and transported to the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. He was booked for Penal Code 187(a) – Murder.
