OCCURRED DATE AND TIME: June 27, 2014 at 9 PM.

INCIDENT: Missing person J. Roy Martinez found safely.

LOCATION: Napa

INVOLVED: (Missing Person J. Roy Martinez 51 years old from Petaluma)

SUMMARY: On the above date and time the Petaluma Police Dept. was called by J. Roy Martinez wife Barbara Martinez who told investigators that she had received a phone call from him and he was in the city of Napa. His wife picked him up in Napa and drove him to Kaiser Hospital in Santa Rosa due to Martinez having lost weight and he had an injury to his ankle from spraining it while walking. His wife then called Petaluma PD Investigators and advised them she had Martinez.

Martinez was contacted by Petaluma Police Dept. at Kaiser and he advised the investigating officer that he had been feeling stressed out and wanted to get away from work and other stressful situations he had going on in his life. Martinez first walked north from Petaluma eventually spending time in Healdsburg. He then walked back from Healdsburg to Petaluma where he stayed one day before walking east eventually stopping in Sacramento. While walking to Sacramento he spent time in Sonoma, Napa and Davis.

Martinez did most of his walking along railroad tracks to avoid detection since he knew he probably had been reported missing. He mostly ate fruit he found on trees along the routes he traveled. Martinez was originally reported missing by his family on June 5, 2014 when he hadn’t been seen by family members in nearly two days. On June 6, 2014 Martinez car was found near the Petaluma Library with all of his personal belongings including his driver’s license, credit cards and cell phone in the car.

Martinez told the investigating officer he was looking forward to going home and seeing his children.
