Gloucester Township Police Media Release: Road Rage Incident Leads To A Vehicle Pursuit on Blackwood Clementon Road

On June 27, 2014 at approximately 4:27 P.M., the Gloucester Township Police Department was notified of a road rage incident near the Shop Rite at 1224 Blackwood Clementon Road in which a male was reportedly swinging a knife. This incident had actually occurred on Blackwood Clementon Road and Millbridge Road in the roadway, when one male, Carl Costantino, age 55 from Berlin, NJ, had approached the other driver, Michael Brown, who then swung a box cutter at Costantino from the driver's seat of his vehicle cutting his left hand causing a laceration. Both vehicles then pulled over into the nearby Shop Rite.

As GTPD officers were arriving, the one vehicle driven by Michael Brown pulled away and fled from police as a short vehicle pursuit was initiated, that ended with the him surrendering to officers at his nearby home in Pine Hill. At the scene, Carl Costantino declined medical attention or transportation to a hospital. He then responded to GTPD headquarters and then refused to provide a statement regarding the investigation, therefore, no criminal charges have been filed for the assault at this time. Michael Brown also refused to cooperate or provide any further details on this investigation.

The accused, Michael Brown, age 49, from the 2900 unit of the Tall Pines section of Pine Hill, NJ was charged with eluding police with means to create substantial risk or causing physical injury to a public servant or others, driving while drivers license is suspended and several other motor vehicle violations committed in Gloucester Township and Pine Hill. Michael Brown was remanded to Camden County Correction Facility in Default of $50,000 full cash bail.
