INCIDENT: Shooting Death on Bentley Road
DATE: June 24, 2014
SUSPECT: Elyjah Marrow, 19 years old of Marietta
CHARGES: Involuntary Manslaughter, Possession of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Reckless Conduct, VGCSA with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Stolen Firearm
The Marietta Police Department Detective Division is currently investigating the shooting death of 19 year old Daryus Johnson of Marietta which occurred at the Bentley Manor Apartments located at 2605 Bentley Road.
On June 24, 2014, at approximately 2:30pm, the Marietta Police Department responded to apartment 2614 of the Bentley Manor Apartments for a report of a person down. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as Daryus Johnson, unconscious on the floor of the apartment. Immediate medical attention was given to Johnson and he was transported to Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
The investigation revealed that Johnson and 19 year old Elyjah Marrow were in the apartment and Marrow was recklessly handling a handgun. Marrow discharged the handgun and accidently shot Johnson who later succumbed to his injuries. Marrow was arrested and is being held in the Cobb County Jail.
