Apple Valley Sheriffs contact 427 vehicles during driving under the influence checkpoint.
From June 19, 2014 at 6:00 P.M. to June 20, 2014 at 2:00A.M., Apple Valley Police, citizen volunteers and explorers from Apple Valley Station conducted a safety checkpoint on Navajo Road. A total of 427 vehicles passed through the checkpoint during the eight hour period. 6 vehicles were towed for suspended drivers licenses, expired vehicle registration and DUI. Deputies cited 10 drivers for vehicle code violations including, suspended and expired drivers licenses. The series of planned checkpoints is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
