The Berkeley Police Department advises you to AVOID Tunnel Road between Alvarado and The Uplands due to a traffic collision. Tunnel Road is closed in both directions in that area.There will be traffic backups and detours for the next few hours. Please consider alternative routes to Highway 24 and Highway 13.
On Friday, June 20, 2014 at approximately 2:22 a.m. the Berkeley Police Department (BPD) were dispatched to a report of solo vehicle collision in the area of Tunnel Road between Alvarado and The Uplands.
The passenger in the vehicle sustained significant injuries and was transported by the Berkeley Fire Department to a local hospital for treatment.
Due to the seriousness of the passenger's injuries, BPD's Fatal Accident Investigation Team (FAIT) has been called in to handle the investigation.
BPD will update with more information as it becomes available.
