June 18, 2014 - Car vs Tree property damage accident. Eureka Township.

SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Car Tree Property Damage Accident
DATE AND TIME: Approximately 7:00 A.M. on Wednesday,
June 18, 2014
LOCATION: Harlow Road east of West County Line Road, Eureka Township.

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to Eureka Township came upon a vehicle that a tree had fallen upon on Harlow Road during the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 18. The deputy quickly determined that the two occupants were trapped for a power line was entangled in the tree.

It was determined that the vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a sixteen year old Gown girl, was travelling east on Harlow Road when a tree fell along the road edge pulling a power line with it. The power line as well as branches from the large oak tree fell on the vehicle causing the driver and her fifteen year old brother to be trapped. Consumer’s Energy and the Greenville Department of Public Safety personnel were able to remove the live power lines from the car. The two were safely removed from the Malibu and were not injured.

Montcalm County had experienced strong storms during the morning commute and a number of fallen trees were reported.
