Borough Water Restrictions
ATTENTION
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING WATER USAGE FOR THE SUMMER OF 2014
The Borough has not yet recuperated from the loss of our George Street Water Treatment Plant during Hurricane Irene. In order to keep up with the summer demand for water, Spotswood must purchase additional quantities of water from a neighboring town at an extra cost. Resident compliance with odd/even water restrictions will assist the Borough to keep costs down while we move forward with recovery plans.
The Borough’s odd/even water restrictions begin May 1 and continue through September 15. These restrictions are necessary to ensure that the Borough can supply adequate water during peak summer demand periods.
-Those who live in homes with odd number addresses are asked to use water only on odd numbered dates.
-Those who live in homes with even number addresses are asked to use water only on even numbered dates.
-On the 31st of any month, no one is allowed to water
Residents can still use water for their regular routines, but should abide by the odd even rule for uses such as watering the lawn, filling swimming pools, washing cars or cleaning building exteriors.
Exceptions are made, however, for people with a newly seeded or sodden lawn or newly planted shrubbery, which may not be watered for more than 45 minutes per section.
The Spotswood Police Department will be enforcing compliance of the ordinance 205-5. Thank you for your cooperation.
