Adam Palenik arrested for heritage trail larcenies from vehicles

On June 6th, 2014 at Approx 10:10 am, The Town of Blooming Grove Police Department Patrol and Detective divisions arrested Adam JK Palenik, 08/14/1975, from the hamlet of Wallkill in Ulster County. Palenik was arrested following an investigation into the breaking of windows and larceny of items from at least 8 vehicles parked in the Parking lots to Goosepond State Park and the Entrance to the Heritage Trail from April 21st to May 14th, in the Town of Blooming Grove.
Items stolen included Credit Cards, an IPad, a Laptop Computer and cash. The value of the items and cash stolen from victim's vehicles exceeded $1,800.00.  The stolen credit cards were used at various
stores in the region which added several thousand dollars of stolen purchases to his crime spree .

The Blooming Grove Police Department conducted a "Buy / Bust" operation where Palenik attempted to sell a stolen watch he had listed on Craigslist to a undercover Blooming Grove Police Detective.

Palenik was charged with 5 counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, a Class E felony for the theft of Credit Cards, 2 Counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, a Class E felony for stealing property totaling over $1800., and 6 Counts of Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, a class E felony for the damage to the vehicles exceeding $1000.

Paleink was committed to Orange County Jail on $7500 Cash or $15000 secured bond.

Blooming Grove Police is working with several other agencies in Orange County and Ulster County involving dozens of similar cases which are being investigated for links to our cases.
