News Release-Possible Attempted Abduction

NEWS MEDIA INFORMATION REPORT

SUBJECT OF RELEASE: POSSIBLE ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION
DATE AND TIME: APPROXIMATELY 3:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY,
JUNE 13, 2014
LOCATION: DICKERSON LAKE ROAD NEAR GREENVILLE ROAD, MONTCALM TOWNSHIP

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a possible attempted abduction near the intersection of Dickerson Lake Road and Greenville Road in Montcalm Township. The incident occurred approximately 3:00 P.M. on Friday, June 13, 2014.

Sheriff’s Deputies learned that a fifteen year old Greenville girl was walking home after school. As she was walking down the road a vehicle continually passed her until it stopped and the driver spoke to her. Initially the driver was offering to give her a ride and when the Greenville girl refused, the driver ordered her into the car. The girl ran off into the woods and eventually made her way to her home. It is believed that the girl was not targeted but rather a victim of opportunity.

The vehicle is reported to be a silver, mid-2000’s Pontiac G-6 having a sunroof.

The driver of the vehicle was described as a white, male in his mid-twenties to early thirties having a military style haircut, his hair was brown, he had no facial hair and was wearing sunglasses. The only clothing description available was a red t-shirt.

There were no other occupants of the vehicle.

The Greenville girl was not harmed during the incident.
