Police seek suspect(s) involved in eluding and hit-and-run collision with motorcyclist

Case: 14-22829 and 14-22835

On June 6, 2014 just before 2:00 a.m. an officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a blue 1999 GMC Yukon that was speeding near 32nd Avenue and Minnesota. The vehicle had been reported to police as stolen. The vehicle did not stop as the officer approached and began speeding through a residential neighborhood, running a stop sign. For public safety reasons, the officer discontinued the pursuit. The driver of the stolen vehicle was not identified. The vehicle also had two rear cargo doors that were different colors not matching the entire vehicle.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m. the suspect vehicle involved in the eluding case was involved in a hit and run collision with a motorcyclist at the intersection of C Street and Dimond. The motorcyclist was traveling southbound on C Street when he stopped for a red light. The light turned green and as the motorcyclist proceeded through the intersection he was struck from behind by a vehicle. Police identified the vehicle as being the same vehicle involved in the previous eluding case. Police were unable to locate the suspect vehicle after the hit and run collision. The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Anyone with information regarding these cases, the driver involved or the suspect vehicle is asked to call police at 786-8900. To submit a tip anonymously call Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.
