Special Olympic Torch Run Today

The Burbank Police Department would like to invite you to come out today (June 4, 2014) and support the annual Special Olympic Torch Run.

At approximately 12:35 p.m., Burbank Police employees will be running with Special Olympic athletes as the Special Olympic torch will be making its way through the City of Burbank.

Each year law enforcement agencies throughout Los Angeles County pass the torch on as it winds its way through various jurisdictions.

The jog is approximately 4 miles long, beginning at Riverside Dr. and Clybourn Ave., where BPD will be receiving the torch from LAPD representatives.

The team will head east on Alameda Ave., to Olive Ave., and continue on Olive Ave., to the Burbank Police Station (200 N. Third St.) for a group photo.

The team will then proceed south on Glenoaks Blvd., to Alameda Ave., where we will hand off the torch to representatives from the Glendale Police Department.

The jog will be at a slow pace and usually takes approximately 50 minutes to complete.

Next Year the Special Olympic World Games will be held in Los Angeles.
